From: Michael Levitt, Stanford University Dear FANG Bai, I heard this terrible news three days ago from my long-time friend and colleague, Professor MA Jianpeng. I first met JIANG Hualiang in 2005 when he and Prof. MA invited me to Shanghai on my first trip to China in 2005. Hualiang was a most wonderful host and gave me the best possible introduction to a new world. We met again two years later when he organized a meeting for foreign scientists in Shanghai, which included a fabulous post-conference trip to Tibet. Over the intervening years we lost contact so I was over-joyed to meet JIANG Hualiang three or four times at ShanghaiTech. I do hope can convey my sincerest condolences to Hualiang’s family.
