The dissertation proposal shall be completed in the fourth semester (thesis proposal the third semester). The proposal defense can be applied after the thesis/dissertation proposal has been approved by the academic secretary online (It will take at least half a year for master's theses and at least a year for doctoral dissertations.). 4. Graduate students shall fill in the Novelty Assessment Report before writing the proposal. The Report is an indispensable part for doctoral candidates to get the professional degrees. Doctoral candidates can either entrust the Southeast University Library to make the assessment or organize their own assessment after completing the literature retrieval courses for graduate students or the literature retrieval training organized by the School. The assessment report completed by doctoral candidates themselves should be attached with a detailed literature review of novelty assessment as the appendix, approved by the supervisors and approved and signed (or sealed) by the Sub-Commission. The novelty assessment for master's theses can be conducted referring to the above-mentioned methods, which are not compulsory. Fifth, this Form is executed in duplicate, with one for students per se to put in the "Files for Graduate Students" and the other documented in the school (department, institute) for the record. 6.
